About Me: It is my dream to help everyone achieve financial freedom. Welcome to Teh Financial Coaching! My name is Christine Teh. I'm a financial coach, an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), and a Certified Money Coach (CMC)®. I started my journey to become a finance and money coach back in 2016. I was at a point in my career where I just wasn't happy with what I was doing anymore. I knew I wanted to be more involved with personal finance, so I interviewed a handful of people while trying to figure out what I wanted to do. Almost all of the advisors I met in my area were only interested in either selling me whole life insurance (because they get a large commission), or they need a certain amount of investable assets (usually in the six digit range). I have not met anyone who genuinely wanted to teach me how to manage my finances and be in control of my money on my own, regardless of portfolio size. So I decided I will be that type of coach! I initially started offering my services for free to friends and family. I really loved the difference I was making, so I decided to launch my own business towards the end of 2016 part time while still working at my corp job. Two and a half years later, I decided to quit my corporate job at Visa and launch my coaching business full-time in May 2019. I have shared how my first month on my own went in this blog. It was one of the best choices I have made so far in my life! Since then, my business has grown and has quite some reviews on Yelp and Google. You can check the links to the reviews below. My calendar is always fully booked! It truly is amazing that things flow once you find your calling. I genuinely love helping people feel more at ease about their finances, whether I am helping them figure out how to get out of debt, teaching them how to budget and learn investment, or assisting with retirement planning or tax planning. I also fell in love with the area of tax preparation and tax planning while volunteering for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). My clients needed tax guidance, plus the volunteer work I did inspire me to become an Enrolled Agent (EA). So I went all in and got my EA designation six months later. Other facts about me:
I have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2000, and moved to Las Vegas in 2020. I am a second generation Chinese born and raised in the Philippines. Since I immigrated, I have been working at various large companies like First Data, Wells Fargo and Visa. I was almost done with my undergrad degree but there were only so many credits that I could transfer from a foreign university. So, I decided to work full time during the day while going to school at night. I studied almost full time since I was taking more than half time worth of classes. It was a hard road with not much social life but I took this route because I did not want to take out any student loans. I have been independent ever since and because of this, I learned to always be on top of my finances. Now, I want to teach others what I have learned. I am currently semi-retired and own an almost paid off brand new house that I bought here in Las Vegas (part of the reason why I moved here). I also have two dogs. Below are some pictures with them. Taking care of my fur babies is important and we need to make sure we also have financial coverage for them. You will see a couple of videos or blogs where I talk about pet insurance and budgeting for pets as well. |
