So someone asked me this in a comment on a post I did yesterday on LinkedIn.
And here’s my direct and honest answer.
I don’t need to make that much money to live a lifestyle I love.
Too many people are in the rat race because they don’t know what their “happy money number” is.
That’s what I help my clients figure out.
My happy money number is being able to live a lifestyle I love till I'm 90 when I estimate to expire. 😅
I have built my retirement model around this.
Yes, the corporate life was hard to give up, I had amazing benefits and a nice steady paycheck. 200% match on 401K anyone?
But as I look back, I have no regrets!
I have had so much freedom this past year.
I get to pick my own schedule, create my own rules.
Nobody to ask for permission. Ever had those awful bosses and nonstop re-orgs? Yep, I don’t miss them! I remember right before I quit my job, I was bounced around three managers. I hated having to adapt to a new boss at such a short span of time (within a year).
I definitely love being my own boss!
It’s just a dream come true for me and that’s priceless!
I’m also approaching my one-year anniversary.
My last day at Corp was on May 3rd of 2019.
I even wrote a blog how my first month being on my own went.
